The project for the 2012 Queensland Literary Awards is finished. The awards were held this week on the 4th of September and the plates have gone home with the winners.
I have been browsing through the photos from our trip to Europe last year. I was hoping to post pictures from some of the amazing art exhibitions we saw but I ended up selecting graffitti pics we took in Florence. By the time we got to Florence we were exhausted from looking at galleries and ended up hunting the side streets for street art and gelati shops. I think I was suffering from Stendhal Syndrome! back to glass in the next post......
As a person who loves pattern and colour I often add lots of detail to my artwork. Strangely though this is my favourite spoon and it is plain cream glass. I love its shape and simplicity.
is aways exciting - will the glass be cracked, full of strange bubbles?......the firing process softens the edges and im always seduced by the light, the edible quality of the glass.....its lickable!
More glass inserts for Doron's school building. One more firing to go......then the 9 are finished.
I have been buried in my studio trying to finish 9 glass inserts for a staircase. They should all be completed by the end of the week. It has been a fascinating process and I've learnt so much. Better go and check on the kiln!
